The Complete 1-99 Cooking Guide in Old School RuneScape

Cooking is a vital skill in Old School RuneScape (OSRS) that allows you to create delicious food items that can heal you during battles or provide valuable stat boosts. In this comprehensive guide, we'll take you through the step-by-step process of leveling your Cooking skill from 1 to 99 efficiently. So let's grab our aprons and get cooking!

Levels 1-15: Basic Cooking

To start your cooking journey, head over to a range or fire with some raw meat or fish in your inventory. You can find ranges in various locations across Gielinor, such as Lumbridge Castle or the Grand Exchange.

At levels 1-5, cook shrimps. They require no additional items and yield 30 experience points (XP) per cooked shrimp. Once you reach level 5, switch to cooking sardines, which offer 40 XP per cooked fish. Cook these until level 15.

Levels 15-30: Tasty Trout

Once you've reached level 15, it's time to move on to cooking trout. You will need raw trout and a tinderbox to light a fire. Trouts grant 70 XP per cooked fish.

A convenient spot to train cooking trout is near Barbarian Village, where you can catch raw trout at the river and cook them on the nearby fire. Alternatively, you can buy raw trout from the Grand Exchange if you prefer to save time.

Levels 30-50: Luscious Lobsters

At level 30, you can begin cooking lobsters. Lobsters require a higher cooking level than trout, but they offer better XP rates. Each cooked lobster grants 120 XP.

To cook lobsters, you'll need raw lobsters and access to a range or a fire. A popular spot to cook lobsters is in Catherby, where you can find a range near the bank. You can either catch raw lobsters yourself or purchase them from other players or the Grand Exchange.

Levels 50-75: Awesome Swordfish

Reaching level 50 unlocks the ability to cook swordfish, which provide even higher XP rates than lobsters. Swordfish yield 140 XP per cooked fish.

Similar to cooking lobsters, you can cook swordfish at a range or a fire. Catherby is still an excellent location for this task, as it has both a bank and a range nearby. Remember to bring plenty of raw swordfish or obtain them from other players or the Grand Exchange.

Levels 75-99: Monkfish Mastery

Once you reach level 75, you can start cooking monkfish. Monkfish are highly sought after due to their healing properties and good XP rates. Each cooked monkfish grants 150 XP.

To cook monkfish, visit Piscatoris Fishing Colony and use the range located inside the enclosure. Keep in mind that catching raw monkfish requires level 62 Fishing, or you can buy them from other players or the Grand Exchange.

Additional Tips

  • To speed up your cooking process, consider wearing cooking gauntlets obtained through the "Family Crest" quest. They reduce the burn rate for various fish.
  • If you don't want to gather raw materials yourself, you can always purchase them from other players or the Grand Exchange.
  • Cooking on a range reduces the chance of burning food compared to using a fire.

That's it! You now have all the information you need to level your Cooking skill from 1 to 99 in Old School RuneScape. Remember, practice makes perfect, and as you gain higher levels, you'll burn food less frequently. Good luck on your culinary adventures in Gielinor!
